I used to lose an entire weekend to wash day. Not an exaggeration — deep conditioning for an hour or two, detangling for hours after that, air-drying overnight in twists, then restyling most of the next day. By the time it was "done," it had eaten two days of my life, and I still felt behind on everything else.
If that sounds familiar, I want you to hear this clearly: that is not normal, and it's not the price of having natural hair. It's the price of not having a system.
Why wash day balloons out of control
When you don't have a clear order to follow, every step becomes a decision — which product first, how long to leave it on, whether it's actually working, whether you need to add something else. Every one of those decisions costs time, and they add up fast. That's before you even get to the physical stuff: detangling in large, unclear sections takes longer and causes more breakage than smaller, deliberate ones. Products applied without a real system often fight each other instead of working together, which means redoing steps that didn't take the first time.
What an actual wash day routine looks like
The whole reason I built the Supernatural system around three essentials — detox, remedy, nourish — is because that confusion is the actual time-waster, not your hair texture. Detox clears buildup so your other products can actually absorb instead of sitting on top of residue. Remedy treats what needs treating. Nourish locks in moisture so you're not redoing this again in two days. Three steps, one sitting, in an order that doesn't require guesswork.
That's it. That's the whole core. If you want to add the growth oil or the scalp oil and brush on top, great — but even without them, those three steps are a complete wash day.
Once I stopped treating wash day like a research project every single time, mine went from an entire weekend to under an hour. Not because my hair changed. Because I finally had an order to follow.
