This series is crucial to us at Supernatural Hair Care because it forms the foundation upon which the brand was built. If you haven't already heard about the inspiration behind starting Supernatural Hair, you can check it out here.
Since the company's conception, our founder, Tia, has been very intentional about highlighting the journey to embracing identity. Though it may manifest as a hair journey, hair has always been just the outward expression of an inward journey.
For many women, especially Black women in America, we are constantly bombarded with images in the media that dictate how we should look, behave, and conform to someone else's image. For some, this might be the over-sexualized black woman in the media. It can also be the absence of representation for dark-skinned women with Afrocentric features. In a world where there are ample opportunities to not feel beautiful or confident in who you are and how you look, embracing the identity journey has to be the place you run to.
Let's understand something: Your identity in Christ is fixed. What God says about you is the only truth. The journey comes into play when you are fully discovering what that looks like. It's a process to unlearn, relearn, cultivate that seed that was planted, and fully embrace how God sees you. This might sound like the Supernatural formula (it is, and you can find it here).
It is our mission not only to help women embrace their God-given identities but also to prevent young women from being lied to by the enemy about who they are, like many of us have been.
Join us on this mission to empower, inspire, and build up our community of women. Support by sharing any post from the 'Saved Girl Series'
